Aerospace machines are used in the design and construction of aircrafts and spacecrafts. These machines are essential in the two major and overlapping branches of aerospace engineering namely aeronautical and astronautical engineering. In layman’s term, these machines are used in rocket science.
Aerospace machines were designed in such a way that these are able to withstand extreme conditions of atmospheric pressure, temperature and structural loads.
The development and manufacturing of a modern flight vehicle is an extremely complex process and demands careful balance and compromise between abilities, design, available technology and costs. This particular industry needs also specialized tools which include the following:
Aerospace fasteners play an almost un-parallel job in all industries, including the aerospace. Almost all appliances that we use and everything that we use today make use of fasteners. In short, the fasteners hold things together, and they are truly irreplaceable in all industries. Examples of aerospace fasteners are rivets or permanent mechanical fasteners. Rivets come in different types such as Solid aluminium rivets, Cherry rivets, Cherrymax rivets, Cherrylock rivets and Huck rivets.
Conductive adhesives are used to attach bare dies and components to the substrate, ceramics, LTCC, leadframes, flex circuits as well as other applications. Aerospace adhesives are designed to meet aerospace manufacturing challenging requirements, offering vibration, shock, impact and thermal cycling resistance without sacrificing high-temperature performance. Controlled performance characteristics of aerospace adhesives include electrical insulative, electrically conductive adhesives, thermal adhesives, high temperature and chemically resistant grades.
Vacuum lifters are material handling systems consisting of a frame with many small suction cups or a huge vacuum pad which are used to grip smoothly surfaced products or materials like large plates, sheets, rolls etc. The frames are fixed below the lifting hook of the lifting systems. Vacuum lifters can be operated by electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power. Vacuum lifters can be operated by two methods. In the first method, a hard vacuum makes use of a compressor and creates suction at the cup to grip products like metal sheets; an overhead hoist or a workstation crane then lifts the sheets. The second method is the vacuum lift tube method, which combines the gripping and lifting processes. Powered by a blower, the equipment uses a tube to create a lesser ambient air pressure vacuum. The equipment can grip bags, drums and pails, and lifts them without using a hoist or crane.
